How to Apply for the SSC Stenographer Exam

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Stenographer exam annually to recruit candidates for Grade 'C' and 'D' posts in various government departments. Here's a comprehensive guide on the application process and essential details for exam day.

Application Process


Visit the Official Website: Go to the official SSC website (ssc.nic.in).

Register Yourself: If you are a new user, complete the one-time registration process by providing your basic details such as name, date of birth, email ID, and mobile number.

Login: After registration, log in using your registration ID and password.

Fill the Application Form: Locate the SSC Stenographer exam link and fill out the application form with the required details including personal information, educational qualifications, and preferred exam center.

Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of your passport-sized photograph and signature as per the specifications mentioned in the notification.

Pay the Application Fee: Pay the application fee through online mode (net banking/credit card/debit card) or offline mode (SBI Challan).

Submit the Application: Review the filled details, and submit the application form. Take a printout of the confirmation page for future reference.

Required Documents During the Application Process


Photograph: A recent passport-sized color photograph (scanned copy).

Signature: Scanned copy of your signature.

Educational Certificates: Details of your educational qualifications.

Identity Proof: A valid ID proof (Aadhaar card, Voter ID, Passport, etc.).

Caste Certificate: If applicable, a caste certificate for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories.

Exam Day Guidelines - What to Carry on the Exam Day ?


Admit Card: A printed copy of the SSC Stenographer exam admit card.

Photo ID Proof: A valid original photo ID proof (Aadhaar card, Voter ID, Passport, Driving License, etc.).

Photographs: Two recent passport-sized color photographs (same as uploaded in the application form).

Stationery: Pens, pencils, erasers, and other permitted stationery items.

Do's and Don'ts on the Exam Day


Do's:

Arrive Early: Reach the examination center at least 30 minutes before the reporting time to avoid last-minute hassles.

Carry Necessary Documents: Ensure you have all the required documents, including the admit card and photo ID proof.

Dress Appropriately: Wear comfortable and appropriate clothing as per the exam day guidelines.

Don'ts:
